In oil and gas installations, well heads can have up to 100 spdt (single pole double throw) pressure switches connected to the control panel, all of them explosion proof. But did you know that there is a simple way to reduce installation time and costs for each one of the atex / iecex switches on a wellhead?
First of all, it is possible to select an ATEX / IECEx pressure switch that is small, robust, accurate and reliable at a relatively low cost. Pyropress developed the low-cost Hermes ATEX / IECEx pressure switch for those reasons. It has a simple and compact barrel construction which is ideal for wellhead applications.
In addition to its size, the Hermes pressure switch also features a flying lead which means that installation is so much faster, so engineers do not need to wire through Exd glands into the switch.
The ATEX / IECEx switch with a flying lead can significantly reduce installation time (and costs), particularly when installing several units. Typically, wellheads may need 40 to 100 of these pressure switches, so the time and cost savings quickly mount.
ATEX / IECEx pressure switch
The Hermes ATEX / IECEx pressure switch has up to 1000 bar working pressure with pressure settings from 1 to 800 bar and has been designed for use in environments where explosive gases can be present (e.g. gas fields, oil rigs and chemical plants).
It has a compact and robust 316 stainless steel construction to IP66 and IP67 standards and has 1 or 2 sealed SPDT microswitches (hermetically sealed switching).
The Hermes range also has separate flameproof and adjustment chambers, which allows the set point to be changed with power on and the switch in operation.
The pressure switches are shock and vibration tested and shipped with 1 metre of cable standard. Alternative lengths of flying cable are available on request to help reduce installation costs.
ATEX IECEx Certified Ex db switches
The Hermes switches are ATEX/IECEx Flameproof (Gas) II 2 G Ex db IIC Gb T6 -50 to +71°C, T5 -50 to +86°C, T4 -50 to +100°C.
