Pyropress Limited is looking for a skilled Design Engineer to join our Technical team and play a key role in the design and development of components and assemblies across our specialist product portfolio.
About the Role
As a Design Engineer, you will work closely with the Operations & Technical Manager to design high‑quality products that meet performance, cost, and compliance requirements. You’ll be deeply involved in end‑to‑end engineering activities—from new product development and prototyping to certification, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
You’ll also act as the CAD system administrator and collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and technical experts to drive innovation and technical excellence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical and electro‑mechanical components and assemblies within the Pyropress and Ex‑tech Signalling product ranges.
- Produce and update 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Design Suite.
- Interpret and apply relevant legal, quality, and compliance standards, including ATEX and IECEx.
- Maintain accurate technical, product, and project documentation.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering to optimise designs for production and assembly.
- Support production teams with root‑cause analysis and problem resolution.
- Represent the company in technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and third parties.
- Administer CAD systems, including licences, updates, and technical support.
- Promote safe working practices and compliance with company values and procedures.
- Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in mechanical product design, including machined parts, castings, assemblies, and rotating/sealing arrangements.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, turning, casting, and polymer mouldings.
- Confident applying GD&T principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of quality control processes.
- Strong CAD capability (Autodesk Inventor & Vault).
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office & Teams).
