About the Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key part in ensuring product integrity, improving manufacturing processes, and supporting the development of new and existing products. You will collaborate closely with design, sales, purchasing, and production teams, providing technical expertise to optimise product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
This is a varied role that combines shopfloor support, engineering analysis, documentation, CAD work, and involvement in product testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support effective manufacturing and design of machined components—internally or externally sourced.
- Provide hands‑on shopfloor support for the assembly and testing of Pyropress & Ex‑tech Signalling products.
- Assist Sales and Purchasing teams by providing technical support and input on customer queries and alternative parts.
- Create and maintain items and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system.
- Contribute DFM/DFA expertise to New Product Development programmes.
- Oversee electrical and mechanical test equipment design, build, and maintenance.
- Maintain and update CAD models, drawings, wiring diagrams, and product support documentation.
- Provide technical support across all departments and ensure safe working practices.
Essential Criteria
- HNC-level technical qualification or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a technical manufacturing role.
- Strong CNC machining expertise (stainless steel, castings, thermoset plastics).
- Experience delivering continuous improvement projects and conducting root‑cause analysis.
- Ability to write clear technical documents, instructions, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office with excellent Excel proficiency.
- Competence in 2D CAD drawing/wiring diagram creation.
- Proactive, detail‑focused, and able to use initiative with enthusiasm.
